Story of S

A sword should be smooth
as well as sharp, swift and strong
lest it slow on the hesitant air

If it passes it grows,
its strength straining, it longs,
for speed is momentum’s affair

If its stroke is successful,
encountering flesh
with the pale softness of warmed milk,

It finds bliss and is sated
Distant spirits enmesh
into sweet, salivating silk
